OGResearch Economists Áron Iker and Réka Doma recently carried out a five-day Technical Assistance visit to Tajikistan, working with the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, and the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) under the SECO-funded Macroeconomic Planning and Management Project (MPMP). The work focused on strengthening capacity in macroeconomic modeling and forecasting.
During the mission, the team worked closely with counterparts to practice the update and day-to-day operation of the existing model, with particular emphasis on revenue forecasting. In addition, they supported the development of the external sector block, including projections for key trade components, and the setup of Balance of Payments and International Investment Position frameworks.
